What is a low doc car loan?

A low doc (low documentation) car loan lets you apply without the tax returns and financial statements most lenders ask for. Instead, we assess your business income showing in your bank statements.

Low doc doesn't mean no documents. If you've searched for a no doc car loan, this is the closest option, but we still check your identity, your income and what you can afford.

Read our guide for self-employed borrowers.

What are the low doc car loan requirements?

You need an active ABN, ID and your last 3 months of bank statements showing your business income.

• ABN: active for at least 6 months, sometimes sooner if you've worked in the same industry before, and your business is generating income

• ID: your current Australian driver's licence and your Medicare card or other government-issued ID

• Bank statements: your last 3 months of bank statements showing your business income, shared through the secure link we text and email you after you apply

• Residency: Australian citizen or permanent resident. Visa holders can apply, with additional conditions that a Lending Specialist will explain.

A Lending Specialist then calls to understand your business and how your income works. Please hold off applying with other lenders while we assess your application, because multiple applications can lower your credit rating.

Is this a low doc business car loan, or can I use it for personal use?

Both, so long as you mostly use it for your business. Our low doc car loans work as low doc business car loans for vehicles you use at work, and you can use them for personal use or a mix of both. If the car is mainly for personal use, ask us about our bad credit car loans. For tax questions, speak to your accountant.

What will a low doc car loan cost?

Your rate depends on a variety of factors, including your credit history, how you manage your current commitments, how long you've had your ABN and the loan term. Your Lending Specialist will explain why your rate is what it is before you decide.

With Ume Loans, you can always save money by making extra repayments, with no extra or hidden fees for doing so. There are no upfront costs, and any fees are included in your loan and disclosed before you proceed. Our Interest Rate Statement explains how we set rates.

Another lender may offer a lower rate, so compare, and check they would accept you without full documents.

Who isn't a fit?

Ume Loans may not be the right lender if:

• You need less than $5,000. Our minimum loan is $5,000.

• Your business isn't generating income yet, or your ABN is less than 6 months old and you're new to the industry.

• You hold a visa with less than 2 years remaining. Visa holders also need a deposit.

• You're a PAYG employee. Our bad credit car loans may suit you better.

• You want to borrow against a car you already own. That's our secured personal loan.

If we can't approve you today, it's a not now, not a no. We'll explain why and how we can work towards a future approval.
